Winter Wonderland
The crisp air nips at your cheeks, the snow crunches underfoot, and the sky crackles with a star-studded promise – it’s New Year’s Eve in Central Maine, and the air is electric with the anticipation of fresh beginnings. But before we dive headfirst into resolutions and revelry, let’s take a moment to savor the unique charm of a New Year in this winter wonderland.
Forget the generic gym memberships and fad diets. This year, let’s craft resolutions that celebrate the spirit of Central Maine. Resolve to:
- Become a winter warrior: Embrace the winter and rediscover the beauty of nature in its frozen form. Make a plan to get out of the house and hike or snowshoe on one of many trails that Central Maine has to offer.
- Shop small, shop local: Support the heart of our communities by resolving to fill your fridge with fresh produce from the farmer’s market, grab coffee from your favorite Main Street café while browsing unique gifts at local shops, and finish out the day dining at one of the areas cozy restaurants.
- Unleash your inner artist: The art scene is bursting with events downtown! While Waterville’s Opera House explodes with theatrical productions, you can also check out all the classes and exhibits happening through Waterville Creates! Resolve to immerse yourself in the arts scene, whether as a spectator or a creator.
Inspired by a desire to celebrate our community, our employees have crafted these resolutions to make a positive impact:
- “I’m looking forward to supporting the local economy this year” – Phil Roy
- “I like to spend my Christmas money at The Record Connection and Old Soul Collectives.” – Roslin Desiderio
- “I love enjoying a good meal with my wife at the Proper Pig.” – Jake Laverriere
- “I enjoy hiking the trails at Quarry Road.” – Cooper Boardman
- “My tip / resolution is to EMBRACE winter. Whether that is to ski, snowboard, snowshoe, Ice fish, snowmobile or whatever excites you. If you embrace winter it flies by. If you are sitting home waiting for March to roll around winter will seem longer and colder. When we stay active and have fun you will almost be disappointed when winter is over.” – Mike Roderick
So, this New Year, let’s embrace the magic of Central Maine. Let’s set resolutions that celebrate our local spirit, connect with our communities, and support the businesses that make our region thrive.
