November is a month of giving thanks and spreading kindness. It is a time to reflect on all the good things in our lives and to show our appreciation for the people who make our lives better. It is also a time to reach out to others and make a difference in their lives. Central Maine Motors is committed to giving back to the communities it serves and the month of November is a great time to focus on these efforts.

Each November Central Maine Motors joins forces with the Alfond Youth & Community Center to help feed our community. The annual Holiday Community Dinner will be taking place on November 9th at the AYCC and will include a turkey dinner with all your favorite fixings! The dinner is free and open to the community and is a great way for people to come together and enjoy a Thanksgiving meal!

I recently sat down with Linanne Gaunce to ask her why this event is so important to her. “It is important to help because it brings people together. The Alfond Youth Center does a really good job of doing just that. They have created a lovely meal for everybody. For some, this might be the only holiday dinner they get and it can be shared with people in the community who truly appreciate the heartfelt mission of the AYCC.”

If you do stop by any of the Central Maine Motors locations this month, don’t be alarmed by the excess of facial hair! Many of our associates will be participating in Stand with Stubble throughout the month. The goal is to highlight and support health issues uniquely faced by men by growing out their facial hair. Proceeds raised will be donated to Northern Light Health to support men’s health initiatives in our community.  Here is what our Toyota Sales Manager, Bob McQuillan, has to say about this event:  “I look forward to this event every year as I feel men’s health is an important issue to fundraise for, and this format is an especially fun way to do so as a team!”

November is also a time to start thinking about the holiday season! Central Maine Motors is proud to sponsor a tree at this year’s Festival of Trees presented by The Central Maine Community Betterment Collaborative. The money raised from this amazing event helps to support families in the community facing food insecurity through services provided by the Alfond Youth and Community Center. Partnering with the Mid Maine Chamber of Commerce also allows a portion of the proceeds to assist in providing workforce development services and assistances.

To finish out the month don’t miss your chance to participate in Small Business Saturday! Get a head start on your holiday shopping while supporting some of your favorite local businesses. Grab a special Small Business Saturday coupon booklet full of coupons and discounts and get a chance to win a $100 Chamber gift certificate! To finish out your busy shopping day, make sure you make your way downtown to catch The Parade of Lights and officially welcome in the holiday season.

In today’s busy and often disconnected world, it’s easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget about the people around us. But if we take the time to lend a helping hand, show kindness and appreciation, we can make a difference, not only in the lives of others but in our own as well. So next time you have the chance to help your community, take it. Not only will you make a difference in someone else’s life, but you’ll be making the world a better place, one small act of kindness at a time.
