Local Businesses Run by Women

While the month of March is known for some fun holidays like Pi Day and Saint Patrick’s Day, did you also know that March 8^th is International Women’s Day? While we go about our day to day lives we often forget that we have amazing women running some of our favorite small businesses here in Central Maine. Keep reading to see some of our favorite local businesses run by women!

Who doesn’t love fresh baked bagels? You won’t want to pass up the chance to pick up a bagel from Sunrise Bagel. But be quick, they often times sell out of bagels before the end of their day! Just a little ways up the road and you can stop at Engine 5 Bakehouse and stock up on a few of their amazing baked goods! Be sure to grab some pies, you want to be sure to have some on hand for Pi Day!

For lunch or dinner options look no further! How about stopping by Juliette’s Bakery and Deli for a sandwich or even a hot and fresh pizza? If you are looking for a great place to sit down and enjoy some tavern style food, we suggest Lion’s Den Tavern. With great food and a friendly atmosphere this may be the perfect place to have a Saint Patrick’s Day dinner!

After all those pastries, you will likely need to spend the rest of the day shopping. Whether you are looking for quality clothing and books at a great price or you are looking for vintage or handmade items there is a shop for you.
